Ecoworks Marine Supply Volvo Ocean Race Yacht ‘Turn The Tide On Plastic’

The ‘Turn The Tide On Plastic’ boat is skippered by the very experienced, single handed, non-stop, around the world sailor, Dee Caffari MBE, who has chosen her own team to compete in this world event. Ecoworks Marine will supply all the MARPOL compliant cleaning products for the boat making this the most environmental and marine friendly boat in the race, underlining the teams guiding mission to amplify the United Nations Environment’s ‘Clean Seas; Turn The Tide On Plastic’ campaign. The team is backed by the Mirpuri Foundation and the Ocean Family Foundation, both of whom are committed to the ‘Clean Seas’ mission.

Since 1973, the Volvo Ocean Race has provided the ultimate test of a team and a human adventure like no other. The 2017-18 event will take the teams 45,000 nautical miles around the world, across four oceans, touching six continents and 12 landmark Host Cities.

The Volvo Ocean Race is often described as the longest and toughest professional sporting event in the world, sailing’s toughest team challenge and one of the sport’s ‘Big Three’ events, along with the Olympics and America’s Cup.

A total of 2.4 million people visited the Race Villages in the last edition, to get a first-hand taste of the race. Tens of millions more followed the action on digital platforms, and this time fans will be able to get even closer in person and online, with a newly imagined pit lane experience at the Host Cities and more live updates from the boats than ever.

After 12 editions and half a million miles, racing resumes again on October 22, 2017, when the teams set sail from Alicante, Spain.

There is a natural fit between the race and Ecoworks Marine campaign for ocean health and the critical environmental challenge of both chemical and plastic pollution. Sustainability and performance is what the race and Ecoworks Marine are all about.
