Ecoworks Marine Partners with Silent Yachts

Ecoworks Marine Partners with Silent Yachts today in an exciting partnership with the truly innovative, solar yacht company. The Austrian company will be equipping every new SILENT model delivered with a full starter package from Ecoworks Marine tailored specifically for SILENT YACHTS.

SILENT YACHTS produced the first oceangoing solar-electric production catamaran in the world and to this day their entire range of yachts is powered solely by solar power. Founded by Michael & Heike Köhler, who after spending many years sailing on conventional yachts, started looking for something more efficient. After four years of research they settled on solar and the Solarwave 46 was born, a 46ft fully solar powered catamaran.

The yacht builder now produce a range of solar powered yachts ranging from 55ft to an 80ft tri-deck catamaran. Everything on the boats is powered by solar power via storage batteries that allow for use even when the sun sets. For propulsion, the batteries power a single motor which drive two propellers. The batteries also run the onboard kitchen utilities such the fridge and cooker and even the air conditioning. By creating extra efficiency through the use of lightweight materials while also considering aspects such as insulation allowing for less use of air conditioning, Silent Yachts is able to increase the range of the yachts on a single battery charge.
